Asha Deep Foundation is involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness activity in the targeted area since last 7 years. The programme is implemented in all the intervention area under different project to reduce the vulnerability of HIV infection among the risk groups. But this year the programme is initiated with a focus on female sex workers of Ghazipur area of east district of Delhi. The proposed target area Ghazipur is situated at the bordering part of east Delhi and western part of UP. The area is industrial and economical belt. This is the main entry point of UP to Delhi. Since it is situated at the border and very busy in transition the prevalence of HIV infection is very high due to merger of bridge population and Target Groups. The project has started from October 2008. The Targeted Intervention Project is implemented under the guidelines of National AIDS Control Programme (NACO III). The project is supported by Delhi AIDS Control Society (DSACS).
AIM OF THE PROJECT:
The main goal of the project is to prevent the HIV infection among the female sex workers of Ghazipur area and create the environment to reduce the vulnerability of FSW within three years.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:
- To reduce the vulnerability of HIV infection among the FSW in intervention areas through awareness generation
- To increase STD/HIV/AIDS awareness knowledge among the FSW and bridge population within three years.
- To enhance the accessibility of FSW at ICTC, VCCT, PPTCT & DOTS to reduce STD among the targeted community.
- To create an enabling environment to mitigate and reduce the impact of HIV&AIDS on FSW
- To promote consistent and correct use of condom among the communities through demonstration, distribution and social marketing.
- To create an environment supportive to service delivery and community development.

Migrant status:
Our target area are predominantly occupied by original residents, a large number of immigrants who belong to Bihar, UP, West Bengal, MP and Jharkhand
Average Family Size:
Average Family size is about 6 to 7, however a large number of immigrants are staying alone, their families staying in the native villages.
Marital Status:
The Marriages amongst native of target area are happening at almost the same age the capital city i.e. between 22 to 32 years, a large population of immigrants is married but they stay alone.
Challenge Faced:
The project is its initial stage; therefore presently the implementing team is facing following challenges to make a rapport with the targeted community (FSWs).
- Broad Area and limited time for Need Assessment
- FSWs are marginalized by society, thus people do not readily open up and admit their behavior to an outsider.
- The TG are scattered all around in the target area.
- By police station.
