MAJOR PROGRAMMES & ACTIVITIES OF THE YEAR 2006 - 2007


























Good Friday was celebrated on 14th April 2006 at Ashaniketan Chapel.
Community health department celebrated World No Tobacco Day on 31st May 2006 at the Basti Vikas Kendra.
World Population Day on 11th July 2006 at the health center..
A training programme on hearing handicapped persons was organised on 14th September 2006.
An exhibition of women artisan of Shahid Nagar and nearby community was organised at HRD and Training center of ADF on 28th September 2006.
The birth anniversary of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was celebrated on 2nd October.
The workshop on technical training in Zari & Zardozi craft was organised between 30th Oct. and 14th November 2006.
The Annual Day of Asha Deep Foundation was organised on 14th November 2006 at project office premises.
A staff picnic was organised on 18th November 2006.
The Residential Home of the Children at High risk was inaugurated on 27th November 2006.
ADF organised two eye camps on 27th September 2006 and 29th November 2006 for the senior citizen.
A grand Christmas was celebrated from 21st December to 25th December 2006.
The Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January at the school premises.
The Annual Sports Day of St. James Convent School was organised on 20th February 07 at Vijay Park.
International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March 2007 at the Shahid Nagar project office of ADF.
The Admission Campaign for Nursery Class was concluded on 15th March 2007.
A picnic of rural community women of Integrated Rural Development Project was organised on 17th March 2007
The World TB Day was celebrated on 24th March 2007 to spread awareness regarding TB in the community.
MAY 2006


Community health department celebrated World No Tobacco Day on 31st May 2006 at the Basti Vikas Kendra, New Seemapuri. Nearly 50 Rag Picking Children of area participated in the programme. The health officer of ADF Dr. Amita Sharma conducted a health talk and aware the children about the harmful effects of tobacco on health.
 
July 2006






Health center organised World Population Day on 11th July 2006 at the health center. Approximately 50 community people participated in the programme. An awareness programme was organised on the occasion. Dr. Amita Sharma educated community about the negative and dangerous effect of rising population and also gave tips to control the population.
In order to promote the interest in environment, St. James Convent School run by ADF celebrated Van-Mahotsav Week from 22nd July to 28th July 2006. The Students of St James Convent School took the initiative to keep the environment clean & green. The Students planted saplings in the school compound brought from Anand Vihar Nursery of the forest department of Govt. of Delhi.
 
SEPTEMBER 2006















A training programme on hearing handicapped persons was organised on 14th September 2006 at HRD & Training Centre to educate the staff about the problems of affected persons as well as how to help them. The programme was organised in collaboration with Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Hearing Handicapped under the ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. Professional resource persons and Dr. Gupta, Director, AYJNIHH conducted the training programme. A total of 75 ADF staff participated in the programme. Resource persons from NIHH enlightened the participants about how to work with the person having hearing problems. They also discussed the problems of affected persons, their solution and the government benefits available for these persons. It was a very successful training programme as most of participants took keen interest and asked question to clear their conception about the issue.
An exhibition of women artisan of Shahid Nagar and nearby community was organised at HRD and Training center of ADF on 28th September 2006. A total of 63 women artisan displayed their work of Zari and Zardozi for the visitors. The main purpose of organizing this exhibition was to know the positive impact of technical training workshop on Zari and Zardozi organised in previous year. It was a very successful event as women displayed many item with beautiful work.
 
NOVEMBER 2006

















The workshop on technical training in Zari & Zardozi craft was organised between 30th October and 14th November 2006. In which 30 community women were trained on Zari and Zardozi work. The training was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India. All the participating women received a certificate and a stipend of Rs. 2250/- from Textile Ministry after the completion of the training session.
The Annual Day of Asha Deep Foundation was organised on 14th November 2006 at project office premises. Children presented many cultural programmes on the occasion. More than 1000 children and the community audience were present in the occasion. Many guest from the Sweden & Germany graced the occasion. The chief guest Ms. Tomoyo Kabayashi from Japan presided over the programme and appreciated the achievement of ADF.
A staff picnic was organised on 18th November 2006. The staff picnic was organised every year to give a leisure moments to the staff from their busy schedule. The staff visited Pacific Mall and watched a movie there. Thereafter they had a delicious lunch at Andhra Bhavan before visiting the Teen Murty Bhavan. All the staff had a wonderful day.
The Residential Home of the Children at High risk was constructed at the Farrukh Nagar. Dr. Sasank Mohanty of BASAID inaugurated it on 27th November 2006. The residential home will accommodate nearly 100 street children facing high risk from the different circumstances.
The ADF organizes every year Eye Camp to help the senior citizen of the community. ADF organised two eye camps on 27th September 2006 and 29th November 2006 for the senior citizen of the targeted community. First Eye Camp was organised at Mohanpur Village of Ghaziabad district in which a total of 92 senior citizens examined and given medicine. Second Eye Camp was organised at Shahid Nagar, project office of ADF in which a total of 103 patients having various eyesight problems was treated and medicine was given to them.
 
DECEMBER 2006









A grand Christmas was celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Jesus. The occasion was commemorated in grand way from 21st December to 25th December 2006. The Christmas celebrated on different days with school children, staff members, community people, beneficiaries and community children. It was a memorable event for the staff as many interesting games were organised and they had lots of fun. The staff also presented dance on the music. Finally the delicious lunch was served to all. In the end gifts and cakes were given to the staffs as a Christmas souvenir. Mayor of Ghaziabad Ms. Damayanti Goyal attended the Christmas celebration on 25th December with community children. A total of 400 community children participated in the celebration.
 
FEBRUARY 2007






The Annual Sports Day of St. James Convent School was organised on 20th February 07 at Vijay Park near Shalimar Garden. Mr. Karl Swenson, Counsellor/Head-SIDA, India, Development Co-operation section, Embassy of Sweden, New Delhi, blessed the programme as chief guest. The children performed March-Past and presented many stunning drills. A total of 1000 children of school and rag picking children project participated in the sports. The chief guest gave prizes to winner children in the different sports competitions.
 
MARCH 2007




























International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March 2007 at the Shahid Nagar project office of ADF. The programme was attended by nearly 1000 community women. The community women organised a rally from the Dilshad Garden Park near Kalander colony, which moved through Dilshad colony and Seemapuri finally reaching to the venue at Shahid Nagar. The rally was flagged off by Mr. Veer Singh Dhingan, MLA Seemapuri. Since the year is marked as Domestic Violence, women raised slogan all the way in the rally about crime against women be stopped, cease domestic violence etc. The programme was presided over by Ms. Kaul, Former Minister U.P. Government beside other guests such as Ms. Neelam, member Minority Commission, U.P Government, Mr. Wangchuk Gyalpo, Country Director, SOIR-IM and media people. Women presented many cultural programmes on the occasion. The event was very successful as chief guest emphasized on the unity of the community and called for a collective effort of women for their development. At the end of the programme a steel service plate was distributed to all the participating women beside refreshment.
The Admission Campaign for Nursery Class was concluded on 15th March 2007. A total of 10 social workers and 15 teachers participated in the campaign. The result of the campaign was very inspiring as 195 children enrolled in the academic session of 2007-08. The admitted children were given free books and uniforms. Their admission fee was also waived off to promote education in the community
A picnic of rural community women of Integrated Rural Development Project was organised on 17th March 2007 to motivate the women in development activities. In this process a total of 72 women of five villages of Loni Block of Ghaziabad District were taken to Akshardham Temple in Delhi and Indraprastha Park. Lunch and refreshment were also provided to the women. All the participating women enjoyed the picnic very much.
The World TB Day was celebrated on 24th March 2007 to spread awareness regarding TB in the community. A rally was organised at Shahid Nagar from Idgah passing through by-lanes of community finally reaching to HRD Centre of ADF. Dr. Dangwal, a medical practitioner was invited as a Chief Guest. Dr. Dangwal and Dr. Amita Sharma discussed regarding the mode of spread and symptoms of TB to the present audience. Around 100 people attended this programme and felt benefited.
