Child Development Center – CBN Foundation

Introduction

Asha Deep Foundation has setup a Child Development Center that would take care of the availability of formal education to the underprivileged and needy children. The main pillar of the program is counseling parents to allow their children to receive a formal education so that their career would not be taken into granted due to lack of education.

The program currently focuses on 100 children from poor communities in Delhi-NCR who either don’t go to school are drop outs or unable to attain a structured curriculum track. The center at Asha Deep Foundation also provides non-formal quality education in the form of remedial classes. These classes at conducted in various shifts during the day to the underprivileged children and the main objective is to help them in getting admission in a formal school. In these classes, children are taught core subjects such as Hindi, English, Maths and Science. In addition to that, they are provided with nutrition support and regular health check-ups. Non Academic curriculum is also guided in which health issues and the importance of personal hygiene is closely advised and counseled. The center also conducts various activities that ensure holistic development of these children. Through regular parent-teacher meetings the parents are made aware of their child’s progress and performance. The program is to prepare the children for main stream education and help them with their holistic development so that they can lead a better and healthier life.

Other prior objectives of the program include Identification the children of rag picking community who are not going to school or are drop outs, Registration and enrollment of these children into the child development centre according to their age and Education, Preparing children for main stream education by providing them non-formal and quality education, Raise awareness about current issues, health, hygiene and fundamental rights, Provide nutrition support to children who are mall nourished and cannot afford food.
