Training has remained an integral part of Human Resource development since ages. In earlier times it was provided in the form of apprenticeship. The need for formal training of the workers of the organizations and groups engaged in Community Development & Community People (Volunteers) involved in the process of Development and they try to meet this need in their own respective way. According to the changing situations in the community as well as society, ADF committed to join and strengthen people movements particularly among the slum dwellers and underprivileged group, more specially the women among them. Since dramatic changes have been taking place in the communities as well as in the society, and in view of the situation changes taking place, we feel the need to reorganize and restate our objectives and approaches to face new challenges effectives and meaningfully. The Training is provided particularly by participatory and democratic way of Development. (Development of people and people participation in development)
Human Resource Development & Training Centre of ADF, popularly known as the HRD center, was started on April 1997 as an initiative to impart training for the development of human resources available in ADF. Since its inception to present condition, it is involved to the utmost of its capability to develop the resources which is within every human body whether they are male or female. We are trying to fulfill the dream of developing the Indian nation by developing Indians. HRD & Training Centre believes that if we empower the human being without any discrimination of Caste, Class, religion & region, then it will not be a difficult job to claim ourselves in the circle of progressive and developed nations. ADF is working for the social development of underprivileged and marginalized sections of society belonging to East Delhi and the Delhi – UP Border. Through this wing, we are trying to do our best to fulfill the dream of that section which was not permitted to dream. Human resource is an asset & by empowering & utilizing its potential, we will get the best place on the world map. HRD & Training Centre has 30 different training/workshop target groups which are the resources of this center. The Centre believes in participatory & democratic methodology for better result in a short span of time.
But still we are not full satisfied with our performance & achievements because we believe in movement & development. There is a vision that after a year or two, it will start working as a developed HRD & Training Centre in real terms with new techniques, facilities & resources in the field of Social welfare to achieve the target of providing support to other organizations/agencies working in social development to empower the underprivileged section.
During the period of 2006-07 a total of 66 training programmes were organised in HRD & Training Centre in which a total of 2145 participants registered their presence to enhance their knowledge on the issues related to their concern.

To build up attitudes and democratic function through communities including all activities related to Community Development
To provide knowledge and understanding necessary for community Development work that involves on several occasions, study of urban slum society, its problems, issues & measure to overcome them.
To inculcate important functional skills & capacity so that the individuals could take up independent work responsibilities.
To acquaint certain values, like truthfulness, honesty, courage, dignity and respect to an individual, non-judgmental attitude, giving freedom to people to make their own choice and decision.
To develop deeper consciousness & certain professional talents, qualities, Potentialities which are hidden amongst the community people (Children, Youth & Adults) and would be a necessity for functioning of community development.
Training is provided for motivation, knowledge and skills oriented in the matter or formation and Management of the organization.
To continuously upgrade the professional skills and knowledge with development of spirit of cooperation & understanding amongst the workers in order to achieve the Organization Goals and Objectives.
To invite Rural & Urban youth who lack opportunities in life to instill in them the concept and perspective of development with personality & confidence building to move forward in life to face all circumstances & situations.

| MAJOR PROGRAMMES & ACTIVITIES OF THE YEAR 2006 - 2007 |

1. Training on Hearing Handicapped persons:
A training programme on hearing handicapped persons was organised on 14th September 2006 at HRD & Training Centre. A total of 75 staff of ADF participated in the programme. The training programme was organised in collaboration with Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, government of India. Mr. J.C. Gupta, Assistant Director of Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for Hearing Handicapped and professional training personnel educated the participants abut the problems related to the hearing handicapped persons and how to deal with the problems of effected persons. They also informed about the services and benefits available for these persons. It was a very successful training programme as participants asked many questions in relation to the subject. |

2. Teachers Day Celebration:
The Teacher’s Day was of St. James Convent School was celebrated at HRD on 5th September 2006 to mark the birth anniversary of great educationist of modern India Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. A total of 35 teachers of formal and non-formal education participated in the programme. A quiz competition was organised on the occasion and winners won prizes. Teachers were honoured with gifts and lunch on the occasion. |

3. Residential Training on Community Development:
A three months Residential Training on Community Development & Personality Building was started from 15th September 2006. During this session a total of 7 students from Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Jharkhand participated in the programme. The HRD provided boarding and food to the trainees besides training. |

4. Design & Technical Development Workshop on Zari & Zardozi:

A 15-days design and technical development workshop on Zari & Zardozi was organised at HRD & Training Centre from 29.10.06 to 13.11.06. The training was conducted in collaboration with Ministry of Textile, Government of India. A total of 30 community women participated in training programme. A professional designer trained the community women on designing, selection of cloth and colour combination of Zari crafts. Community women made 30-prototype crafts item. The Textile Ministry gave these women a certificate on 27th January 2007 at the end of the training programme. |

5. Yoga Classes:
Yoga has become an essential activity in present day way of living. It gives a freshness to mind and body both. Since the children also vulnerable to exhaustion, Yoga classes have been introduced from 21st November to give them relief from tedious routine work and bring freshness. Regular yoga classes are organised at the HRD Centre for the children of school, Boys Home & Girls Home. A yoga teacher conducts half an hour yoga classes for the children. Yogasanas, Padmasan etc. are taught in the classes. A total of 25 students participate in each session of Yoga. |

6. Christmas Celebration:
A grand Christmas was celebrated at HRD & Training Centre with the staff of ADF on 22nd December. A quiz competition was organised for the staff followed by music and dance. Lunch was served to the staff in a unique way. Stalls of variety of eateries were placed at HRD. Staff enjoyed the day very much. At the end of programme gifts were distributed to all the staff.
Apart from that, delegates of Free Church celebrated Christmas with children of boys home and girls home on 23rd December. Children of homes presented beautiful cultural programme on the occasion. Visitor also presented a song for the audience. Children were given refreshment and cake on the occasion.
A tea party was organised at the HRD centre on 25th December to mark the birth of Lord Jesus with community children. A total of 300 community children of Shahid Nagar participated in the programme. Mayor of Ghaziabad District, Mrs. Damayanti Goyal blessed the occasion with her presence. Beside her many distinguished guests participated in the programme. Children were given refreshment, gift and cake on the occasion. |

7. Admission of Nursery Class:
Admission of students in nursery classes were held at HRD centre on 15th March 2007. An admission campaign was carried out by the St. James Convent School to enrol maximum children of community. The salient feature of this campaign was free admission, free uniform and free books for new students. Parents reached the centre in time and completed the formalities for admission. It was a very successful campaign as a total of 198 students got admission on the day. |

8. World TB Day:

World TB Day was organised at the HRD Centre on 24th March 2007. Health Centre of ADF organised a rally on the day to aware the community about the dreaded consequences of TB. All the participant of the rally assembled at HRD after the rally. A health talk on TB was organised for the participants. Dr. Amita Sharma health officer of ADF Health Centre and Dr. T.R. Dangwal of Prism Clinic, Dilshad Garden, informed the participants about symptoms, spread and prevention of TB. It was a very successful event as a total of 100 community people participated in the programme |

9. Parents Meeting of St. James Convent School:
On the occasion of beginning of new session of academic year, St. James Convent School organised a parents meeting to inform them about the progress of their children. Parents were informed about the importance of education for their wards. The school authorities asked the parents to send their children to school in time and in proper cleaned uniform. The result of meeting was very productive as almost all the parents were positive about the suggestion. The meeting was held at HRD centre on 28th March 2007 in which more than 100 parents participated. |

10. Interview of Adolescents by Swedish Journalist:
Interview of Adolescent boys and girls of school and community were carried out by a Swedish journalist on Human Rights and Global Justice in the month of March 2007. The journalist wanted to know the view of Indian adolescents on the issues. This will be exhibited to the Swedish counterpart of Indian adolescent. |

| OTHER ACTIVITIES OF THE HRD & TRAINING CENTRE |

Apart from above mentioned activities HRD is engaged in other activities related to organisational and community development. These are:
1. Organising sponsored programme of distribution of nutrition to community people.
2.Arrangement of programmes during the visit of the foreign guests.
3.Rehearsal of cultural activities of ADF events.
4.Organising Indoor games for the school children and project beneficiaries.
5.Documentation of all the report related to on going projects.
6.Preparation of proposals and periodicals. |
