Gender Resource Center (GRC)

Introduction

GRC (Gender Resource Center) Is the Model Project of Chief Minister Sheela Dixit. It is come into August, 2008. Samajik Suvidha Sangam is an initiative of the Government of NCT of Delhi aimed at so Mission Convergence is basically an attempt of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi to lay the foundation for the proper psychological, physical and social development of the poor and unheard communities through adopting a holistic approach towards community welfare, Samajik Suvidha Sangam came into being– a platform where all services / welfare schemes converge. In simple words, we can say it is a plethora of welfare schemes put together. One must be clear that it is also the convergence of goals, ideas and resources to provide social justice in the best coordination way to ensure that underprivileged and the poor regularly receive welfare services and their basic rights of food, education, health care and social security. It is an attempt to re-identify urban poor through Survey & using criteria of Habitat, Social and Occupational Criteria of Vulnerability rather than Economic Criteria adopted.
Essentially the Gender Resource Centre was formed to take care of all dimensions related to women empowerment in a holistic manner, and are envisaged as instrument to bring Social, Economic, and Legal empowerment of Women particularly those belonging to the under privileged sections of society.

Objective

The activities of Gender Resource Centre are to encompass Social Empowerment, Legal Rights, Economic Initiatives comprising of skill building, Micro enterprise and entrepreneurship Development, Health Aspects, Information Sharing and Networking Aspects, and Non formal functional literacy and Women empowerment.
Workout and implement the action plan for the welfare schemes in District South in collaboration with the private sector, NGOs, or Public Private Partnership (PPP) or other innovative methods as per the requirements of the specific areas.
Rationalize and streamline the implementation of the schemes related with social services.
Generate awareness on the welfare schemes and programme amongst masses.
Facilitate and promote public-private partnerships and community ownership in efficient service delivery of social services.
Improve access of the poor to get the maximum benefits of the welfare schemes.
To engage them in various activities and let them participate in the event as per their capabilities so that they can still enjoy their lives like a home – away from home.
Promote women empowerment.

The GRCs Objectives

To improve health of women
To important skill for specific trades and to provide forward and backward linkages enabling women to be a part of productive work force obtain good remuneration.
To provide facilities with linkages for school drop outs to return to mainstream and to provide Non Formal functional literacy.
To establish a mechanism for linking existing government schemes for women and to enable women to access it better.
To raise awareness on issue of relevance and provide legal literacy about women rights.
To set up a documentation center which will act as a clearinghouse for information of women and will work towards a system of affiliation of the organization working on the same issue.
Geographical Area of the Project : - Kalyanpuri, all blocks, Khicripur blocks and some Mayur Vihar Phase First.

Number of Beneficiaries in GRC activities

Vocational Trade (Beauty & Culture)

Syllabus:-It is 6 months course and target is 50 students. We learn Threading, Hairstyle, How to wear Saree, Heena Hand ,Pedicure ,Manicure, Bleach Shampoo+ Dry seizing Facial+ Black Heads ,Head Massage, Wax, Bridal Make Up and hair Cutting.
Self Help Group : - We have target to make 7 SHG in a year. But in present time we are doing follow up with ISST groups.
Duration of the Project : - July 2012 to March 2013
