Eye Camp for Elderly
Set up precisely to address the emerging but calamitous situation that has emanated as a result of the degeneration of the social and family values in recent times, ADF strives to provide a home to the distressed senior citizens who are economically poor. Two Day Care Centres are run by the Society – one in Delhi and the other in UP, benefiting a total of 160 elderly.. These centres were set up in the slums to provide love, care and attention to the elderly below the poverty line who have no one to look after them or whose near ones have no time to care for them. A total of 35 and 30 elderly daily attend the two centers respectively. Besides, 95 elderly come to the Centre in U.P. once every month to receive their ration, detergents, pocket money and other items under the ADOPT- A- GRANNY SCHEME. The centers open at 9:00 a.m. and closes by 5:00 p.m.

Day Care Centre for the Elderly provides refuge to Suleman
Mr. Suleman is from a family of 7 brothers and sisters. His father passed away when he was quite young. His grandparents then got his mother married off. His step-father never liked the children and due to which the relation between him and the children in the family was always strained. Suleman left home and came to Delhi to work as a day laborer. He spent his entire life working hard to feed his stomach. He did not marry and at this age is completely alone. When he fell sick and was unable to walk, he began to think that death was near. He was brought to the Day care Centre for the elderly, where he was properly taken care of. Even today Suleman often has digestive problems and has no appetite. Suleman says that he has never set his heart on anything and has accepted each day as it came. He doesn’t talk much but his eyes say that he has at last found a place where he is taken care of, where he can spend his time in peace.
