 Asha Deep Foundation has been running a development programme for Rag Picking Children since last four years with an objective to enhance the quality of life of the Rag Pickers Children of the East Delhi-UP Border. In this process foundation succeeded in bringing nearly 350 rag picking children in mainstream of society by motivating them to leave rag picking and synchronizing them with education, vocational training and entrepreneurship. Since the children of Rag picking community get involved in the profession in very young age, they as well as their parent find it most profitable. Ironically in the long run it becomes difficult for the children to cope up with normal way of living. Therefore, The Early Childhood Education activity was introduced and a crèche was established to prepare the child towards the education and also motivate the parents to conceive a positive idea for development of their wards in different perspective. The crèche is situated near the project area. The name of this crèche is ASHA CRECHE. The crèche is fully equipped with all the required materials needed for an ideal crèche. The crèche has 1 administrative office, 3 playing room, 1 Rest room, 1 Kitchen, 2 big verandahs and spacious roof. Over all paint of building was done. New furniture was installed. Walls of crèche are painted with informative pictures such as nursery rhymes, counting charts and alphabetic drawings. Toys and learning materials were also purchased for the crèche. Presently 25 children are admitted in the crèche of which 11 are boys and 14 are girls. The crèche opens at 9.00 AM in the morning and closes at 2.00 PM. Children are given 3 sets of cloths and it is daily washed. Nutrition supplements are provided to the children during their stay at the centre. Apart from that health checkup of children are also carried out regularly and medicines are given to them. |
