“Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project”

Introduction

Water is one of the major source of most of the diseases in the world. If safe drinking water is provided to everyone, a number of diseases can be eradicated. Asha Deep Foundation has found this opportunity to give it back to the community. Asha Deep Foundation has worked diligently in this field and has penetrated in the slums of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. A lot of households have been benefitted from this initiative.

Aim

To mitigate sickness and the number of deaths caused due to contaminated water by enhancing awareness campaigns and carrying out preventive measures.

Objectives:

To impart appropriate cleanliness instructions
Motivate individuals to come together as a team and work towards a common goal
To provide appropriate sanitation conditions
To provide a platform to address all challenges and doubts regarding cleanliness and increasing awareness about various preventive measures

Activities:

To conduct activities to show individuals various water purification techniques
To increase awareness about World Hand Washing Day, World Water Day and World Sanitation Day/World Toilet Day
To carry out activities emphasizing a lot on how to store drinking water
To increase awareness among juvenile girls and young women about the significance of cleanliness amid monthly cycle and furthermore advance utilization of sterile napkins
To frame pressure groups for better implementation of best sanitation practices all throughout the community

Impact Assessment:

Enhancement of community children in studies
Decrease in sickness and the number of deaths caused due to contaminated water
Personal cleanliness carried out by individuals
Cleanliness among juvenile girls and young women during monthly cycle
Better execution of cleanliness programs in groups as compared to individual basis
